SUMMARY:Exploring Grief through Creativity Workshop: Mini Books
DESCRIPTION:If you are grieving the death of a loved one\, and are inspired by art-making and creativity\, join us for an Exploring Grief through Creativity workshop. Facilitated by a Victoria Hospice Bereavement Counsellor with Expressive Arts training\, we provide a non-judgmental creative container for you to access and explore your experiences of grief through various visual art supplies. In this workshop we will be creating some mini books where you can write a meaningful poem or special memories.  No prior “art” experience is required to participate – just a willingness and interest to try something creative. \nThis is a 2 hour\, in-person workshop taking place at the Victoria Hospice Community Support Centre at 102-4450 Chatterton Way. \nThere is no charge to attend this workshop\, however registration is required. As we are a donor-funded organization\, though not expected\, should you be in a position to donate\, please follow the link here: Your support is needed | Ways to donate to Victoria Hospice \nWhat to expect: \n\nWelcome and introduction;\nAn opportunity for creative exploration in mini book making;\nA guided reflective writing exercise;\nA group discussion and invitation to share with other participants.\nTea/coffee and some snacks will be available.\n\n  \nSpace for this workshop is limited to 10 people. SUMMARY:Mountain Golf Tournament
DESCRIPTION:A tight-knit circle of family and friends will once again take to the greens August 14-15 for the 33rd Annual Mountain Golf Tournament. What began as a small gathering of 12 golfers has grown into a 70-player event\, now played across Olympic View\, Cordova Bay\, and Bear Mountain. \nThe tournament was originally inspired by Paul Sekhon — a founding member\, cherished friend\, and devoted family man who passed away in 2011. The compassionate care Paul received\, both on the Inpatient Unit and at home through the Palliative Response Team\, left a lasting impression on those closest to him. In his memory\, they remain committed to ensuring that others can access the same level of support at the end of life. \n“In the final weeks of Dad’s life\, being able to use hospice services at home was an incredible gift\,” shares Paul’s son\, Javas. “We had four weeks together in our home\, with friends and family coming to visit — something many people don’t get to experience. That time was truly special\, and hospice made it possible.” \nThe tournament also honours the memory of Raman Jhuti\, a valued team member and dear friend who passed away in 2020. \nTogether\, in tribute to Paul and Raman\, participants are working toward a $25\,000 fundraising goal this year. Since its inception\, the tournament has raised more than $245\,000 in support of hospice care. \nYou can help them continue this meaningful legacy by making a donation here.
