SUMMARY:Exploring Grief through Creativity Workshop: Celebrate a Life
DESCRIPTION:If you are grieving the death of a loved one\, and are inspired by art-making and creativity\, join us for an Exploring Grief through Creativity workshop. Facilitated by a Victoria Hospice Bereavement Counsellor with Expressive Arts training\, we provide a non-judgmental creative container for you to access and explore your experiences of grief through various visual art supplies. No prior “art” experience is required to participate – just a willingness and interest to try something creative. \nWhere: This is a 3 hour\, in-person workshop taking place at the Victoria Hospice Community Support Centre at 102-4450 Chatterton Way. \nWhen: Tuesday May 19\, 1pm-4pm \nWho: A limited number of registered participants who are bereaved following the loss of a loved one. \nFee: No cost – All art materials and some refreshments provided. \nWhat to expect: \n\nWelcome and introduction to the session theme;\nA brief demonstration of art materials and some mixed-media techniques;\nAn opportunity for creative exploration;\nA short break\, with tea/coffee and some snacks;\nPersonal reflection time;\nA group discussion and invitation to share with other participants.\n\nSpace for this workshop is limited to 8 people. DESCRIPTION:A grief cafe is a social gathering of people experiencing bereavement who wish to talk about their own experience and listen to the experiences of others. \nWhen you arrive at the Victoria Hospice Community Support Centre\, you will be greeted by one of the volunteer facilitators. You’ll be invited to choose a drink or a snack and find a seat at one of the tables. The volunteers will introduce the format of the session and provide some short prompts to help guide conversation at the tables. You’ll have an opportunity to share your own story\, if you wish\, and to listen to the experience of others. \nPlease be aware that these sessions are social in nature and not a substitute for medical care or counselling. \nThere is no charge to attend\, however seats are limited and sessions fill up quickly\, so please do not request a ticket unless you plan to attend. If you have a ticket but can’t attend\, please call and let us know (250-519-3040) so that we can offer your seat to someone else. \nAlso\, this is not a drop-in event so\, please arrive prior to the start so that you have time to settle in. \nSeats may be reserved through the EventBrite link below.
