SUMMARY:Living with Grief: Adjusting to Life After Loss (in person)
DESCRIPTION:A one-time\, interactive workshop covering the basics of grief and mourning\, and ways to cope for those who are bereaved following the death of a loved one. This is an interactive workshop that encourages sharing from participants while learning about different ideas around grief and mourning. Although we will not be screening participants\, we recommend that you give yourself at least one month after your loss before attending this workshop due to the potentially overwhelming nature of grief. \nHave you recently lost someone important to you? Are you surprised by your grief and wondering what is normal and how best to cope? This workshop\, developed by the grief counsellors at Victoria Hospice\, will help you understand your grief\, as well as offering a chance to connect with other grievers in our community. SUMMARY:Victoria Hospice Grief Café
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to meet other grieving people? Are you ready to share and listen to peoples’ experiences with grief? Join Victoria Hospice for a Grief Café. \nA grief café is a social gathering of people in bereavement who wish to share their own experience and listen to others. \nWhen you arrive at the Victoria Hospice Community Support Centre\, you will be greeted by one of the volunteer facilitators. You’ll be invited to choose a drink or a snack\, and find a seat at one of the tables. The volunteers will go over the format for the session and provide some short prompts to help guide the conversation at the tables. You’ll have an opportunity to share your own story if you wish and listen to the experience of others.. \nPlease be aware that these sessions are intended to be social in nature and are not a substitute for medical care or counselling. \nPlease note the session has a defined start time; is not a drop-in session. \nThere is no cost to participants\, but donations are gratefully accepted. \nRegister to attend on Eventbrite
