Invitation to participate in a Focus Group – Exploring Future Community Program Considerations
As staff members, you are the heart of our organization. You continually participate in supportive care for our clients whether it’s directly or indirectly. You understand the needs of our patients and families and possess insights into the needs of the greater community. Your voice matters and we would like to invite you to take part in a series of small focus groups to explore the future of Victoria Hospice’s community programs.
We recognize the pandemic has created added stress to our work and personal lives, so it might not feel like good timing for you to participate. As such we have intentionally created short (1 hour) focus groups, designed as sessions meant for lively brainstorming. Your participation is completely voluntary and all of your responses are anonymous. If you are able, please consider joining us.
Staff focus groups will be facilitated by Annie Do (Education & Research) and Jen Cooper (Communications & Marketing) and will take place over Zoom on the following dates/times:
- Wed, April 21st from 7:00pm – 8:00pm
- Thurs, April 29th from 10:00 – 11:00am
If you would like to participate, please fill out the contact form with your first and second choice of focus group date. Further information will be sent to you once you have confirmed attendance prior to the focus group.
If you have any questions or require more information, please contact Jen Cooper, Manager of Communications, at Jennifer.firstname.lastname@example.org.
The number of adults 75+ is expected to grow substantially over the next 20 years, with an increase of 127% in Greater Victoria and 271% in the Western Communities. This growing and aging population will place increased demands on health systems and palliative and hospice care programs and services.
As a leading expert in the field, Victoria Hospice is positioned to enhance and add to existing programs and services and develop a more integrated approach to palliative care in the community.
In January 2021, the Victoria Hospice Society Board of Directors established a Planning Committee to start the process of defining the future state of expanded palliative end of life care programs and services. Derived from this planning process including interviews with program directors and a literature review, a preliminary explorative document was produced which summarizes the high-level community based program and service options for consideration.
We are asking your opinions to support further community program exploration and to better understand the needs of community presently and into the future. Staff from all departments are encouraged to participate. The discussions will be completely confidential and focus on topics such as whether considerations which have identified fill gaps in the community, and suggestions you may have for program enhancements.
