Scott Boyd
| Surrounded by his loving family, Scott passed peacefully at his home in Victoria, British Columbia at the age of 51. Even during his short battle with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine cancer, Scott found a way to entertain everyone until the end, always making sure that each person’s joy and happiness came first. His passion for life, the love for his family, and his adventurous spirit carried him through those challenging days. Scott is survived by his best friend and loving wife Elizabeth “Beth” Anne (Weston) and the greatest joys in his life, his son Timothy “Jackson” Boyd and his daughter “Kate” Elizabeth Boyd. Scott will also be dearly missed by his beloved parents Timothy Winston and Dorothy Elizabeth Boyd (Vyse) of Vernon, BC, his amazing kid sister Shannon Lee Boyd, brother in-law Ross Plumpton and Griff the Great, of Auckland, New Zealand, and his in-laws Peter and Cathy Weston of Saanichton, BC, Scott Weston and Rhea Rosario and nephews Cohen and Marcus of North Vancouver, BC, and Amy Weston and David Hesford and nephew Thomas and niece Anna of Seattle, WA. Scott was born in Leamington, Ontario on August 10, 1970, and very soon after moved to Grand Bend, ON, where he was raised for most of his childhood. Growing up, Scott’s father instilled a deep love of and passion for sports and competition; Scott loved hockey, baseball, and skiing, among a variety of other sports. His father also gave him the gift of a strong attention to detail. His mother’s never-ending unconditional love and support, in any idea he had, gave him the credence that he could achieve anything he wanted in his life. Shortly after school, in 1995, Scott made the choice to move west where he lived in Vancouver, BC for the next eight years. There he discovered two amazing things: a love for the mountains and the ocean, but more importantly the love of his life, Beth. The couple spent much of their time exploring the majestic BC outdoors, camping, hiking and skiing together. While in Vancouver Scott began a career in the Financial Services Industry that would span the next 23 years. Shortly after their marriage in North Vancouver on September 20, 2003, Scott and Beth relocated to Vernon, BC to begin their next chapter. There they welcomed their two children, Jackson in 2004 and Kate in 2007. Together with his family Scott found great joy skiing the local mountains in the winter, golfing and boating in the Okanagan in the summer, and camping throughout the province. Scott loved exploring the world with his family and sharing his love for great food, new destinations, and trying anything with his children. It was in the Okanagan that Scott built his successful Wealth Management practice with RBC Dominion Securities, which he was extremely passionate about and proud of. Many of the relationships with his clients transcended far beyond their professional arrangements, as he considered his clients and his outstanding team part of his extended family. Upon learning of his diagnosis in March of 2019, Scott and his family made the decision to relocate to Victoria, BC, where he could continue his treatment and adventure for life with some normalcy. As a family they quickly embraced all that the city and the Island had to offer. They regularly spent time at their favorite place in Tofino, BC, and often were found walking along the city’s oceanside paths taking in the glorious vistas. During his time in Victoria, Scott found a great escape from the realities of life at the Victoria Golf Club, where he was quickly welcomed by the “Wednesday Warriors” group and made some amazing new friendships. The club became an important second home to the entire family and created many great legacy memories. One of Scott’s grand dreams was to gather a group of Honorable Gentlemen who would participate in an annual golf event like no other, and in 2010 that dream became a reality when he founded the Beltane Cup. With an enormous amount of help and support from key contributors, this single annual event transformed into an Association of Gentlemen that are now connected for a lifetime and who share their time with one another year-round. Scott’s keen attention to detail and passion for building something greater than himself will allow the Beltane to carry on in perpetuity as he always envisioned. Scott bestowed the Beltane’s legacy and stewardship to his partners in absurdity, 200903, 200905, 200907 and 201502, knowing they will carry the Beltane spirit during their guardianship and pass the torch to those who follow. Dreams + Effort = Greatness. Scott was a long serving member of the BC Masonic Lodge Miriam #20 where he rose in rank and was elevated to a Master Mason on October 4, 2006. The Masonic experience taught Scott a higher understanding of community, charity, brotherhood, and dedicating oneself to helping others. Scott was forever grateful for the lessons he learned and fraternal friendships he made during his time and throughout the entire Masonic community. Though his time was short, Scott made complete use of what time he was afforded before the last grain of sand passed through the narrows of his hourglass. He will deeply miss his family and friends, as we will deeply miss him. |
