Get ready, golfers! It’s time for the highly anticipated 2023 Facilities Maintenance and Operations Golf Tournament for Victoria Hospice. For event organizer and Electrical Maintenance Supervisor Martin Schicchi, this tournament is special.

Eight years ago, Martin’s mother-in-law, Dorothy Beggs, experienced a life-limiting illness. As her care became overwhelming, Martin and his wife turned to hospice for help. The compassionate staff swiftly arranged for Dorothy to receive exceptional care on the Inpatient Unit, which left a lasting impression on Martin.

Since then, Martin has dedicated his fundraising efforts to this worthy cause. Martin has set an ambitious goal to surpass last year’s $4,000 donation and needs support from the community to make it happen.

This year’s tournament takes place Saturday, August 12 at Highland Pacific Golf Course, with capacity for 80 enthusiastic golfers. Despite rising costs, Martin is determined to keep the fees affordable for the hospital staff, who make up the majority of participants. The event will also include a raffle and silent auction with donated items.
