Family Memorial Lantern Making Workshop
Thursday, March 13 at 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Victoria Hospice Bereavement Services invites you to a
Family Memorial Lantern Making Workshop
on Thursday March 13 2025, from 5:30 to 8:00pm at the Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion.
Lanterns will be created in a facilitator guided workshop. Once they are completed, affixed to poles, and illuminated, participants will gather to form a procession, and will make their way to the Gorge Waterway to participate in a memorial ritual.
This offering is for families with children and/or teens grieving the loss of an important person in their lives. Registration is open to any family configuration of up to four individuals, with at least one child or teen aged six and up. Please ensure that there is at least one adult per family group to supervise and support the lantern making process.
Registration is available through emailing hospice.bereavement@islandhealth.ca or calling 250 519 3040. Please let us know the names of the members of your family group, and which group member(s) are children or youth.
Instructions, including the use of a memorial photo in the lantern making process, will be forwarded to registered family groups. There are spots for 12 family groups of up to four people. Space is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Due to demand, we request that families register only if they are able to commit to the date and time.
Supplies and light refreshments will be provided.
There is no fee for this workshop. We hope to see you there.
