Movie Night and Discussion: Pixar’s “Coco”

Wednesday, October 30 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Audience: Anyone in the Greater Victoria area who is grieving following the death of a close person.

Where: Victoria Hospice Community Support Centre at 102-4450 Chatterton Way

When: October 30th, 2024, from 6 to 9pm

What: For the first part of this event, we will view the movie. Coffee/tea/water and a snack will be provided. Following the film, Victoria Hospice’s research, quality, and safety manager Michelle Bahena-Olivares, as well as bereavement counsellors Heidi Wigmore and Marney Thompson, will facilitate a discussion with the audience about grief, mourning, and cultural traditions.

NOTE: This focus of this evening will be socializing, light discussion, and learning. Although we expect that this film may surface people’s grief, there will not be an opportunity for individuals to deeply express and share personal grief.

How: Seats are limited, and you must reserve your tickets in advance. Reserve your tickets here.

Please do not attend if you have signs of illness/infection. We appreciate your attention to this matter. Masks are optional.

The workshop is free of charge. Please only register if you feel will be able to attend the workshop. As there are a limited amount of spaces available, confirming a ticket means you are claiming one of these spaces.

Coco: Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
